Sponsored by the Bhaktivedanta Institute for Higher Studies and the Alachua Krishna Institute
Through multimedia presentations, discussions and class activities led by Mauricio Garrido (Murali Gopal) who holds a PhD in Physics, participants learned to:
-
Relish reading the Fifth Canto’s cosmography having acquired a working mental picture of it.
-
Understand the role of interpretations.
-
Recognize what we understand and don’t understand yet of this cosmography.
-
Address issues like flat earth theories, geocentric vs heliocentric views, and distances to the sun and the moon.
Participants enjoyed a field trip to Santa Fe College’s planetarium at the end of the workshop to contrast the Vedic view with the modern view of the cosmos.
