"Points Concerning the Vedic Conception of the Universe" is a hand-written, forty-one-page document that includes fifty-seven hand-drawn illustrations by the author. This early sketch appears to provide a roadmap for Thompson’s future research and also anticipates many of the research developments during the past forty years by scholars interested in these topics. Around this time, Thompson would also describe his motive for undertaking this type of research as an attempt “to resolve the apparent contradictions between these two sources of Vedic astronomical knowledge [Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam and Sūrya-siddhānta] and to arrive at a clear understanding of the Vedic conception of the universe.”
